Traditional clothes
We all got a traditional Ugandan outfit as a going away gift from Pastor Michael and Juliet Masembe, the kids wore them to church on Sunday, Finny couldn't get enough of his hat!!

Donations
The PPAC team brought with them a lot of clothes donations from home, many outfits were put together and given away in our kids packs for care and compassion, some will continue to clothe the community, and some to our own 50!!
Yesterday morning we filled the medical centre with clothes and had the 20 new children come in one by one to try a church outfit and play outfit on, a new jacket, as well they each got a pair of sandals. We love to see how thankful they are with those big smiles!!!

Christine
As we near the end of our time here, I have started to distance myself from the kids a little bit. In sort of an effort to make saying good bye a little bit easier.
Shannon has gone a different route. She has become completely attached to a little girl named Christine.
Christine is one of the kids that recently joined our newly finished Suubi house. She is 3 years old and other than some malnutrition is a healthy little girl. She is orphaned by both parents, with an elderly Grandmother her only relative, sounds pretty adoptable!! She is quite shy and was actually afraid of us Muzungos her first few days, only to be greeted a few days later by 20 more!!! She thrives on one on one attention, loves to cuddle, and with a little effort has the sweetest smile! Our kids have fallen in love with this little girl too, they enjoy inviting her over to our house for treats, reading to her, and to hear her sweet voice as she gets more comfortable with us.
She's definitely going to be hard for all of us to say goodbye to!!

Children's Clinic Day
Saturday the clinic was opened up for our 50 children living on the property. We were doing full physical exams on the 20 new children, and we also did HIV tests on all the children. It was great to have the team here for this, they were playing with the chlildren to entertain them while they waited; reading, doing crafts, singing songs, as well consoling the kids as needed afterwards. Its been a nice bonding time with these kids and a great way for the team to get know them better!!

Kampala Day
On Friday, the team ventured into Kampala for a much deserved break. We were able to start the day at Kasubi Tombs to learn a bit of Uganda history, and from there went to Garden City and the Craft market. This gave everybody a chance to use the internet, eat some North American type food, and also to buy some souvenirs.
We went to a restuarant where a friend of ours Henry works, our kids were excited to see him again and to have a chance to say goodbye!

The Team
Sara Macdonald, from the PPAC team, had to fly home yesterday after breaking her leg. She has arrived home safely and doing much better, but will be greatly missed!!
The team has been working hard this week; care and compassion visits, painting the children's homes, and spending time with the 50 kids on the property as well the 200 at Kid Care School.
The children love having visitors, they haven't had so much one on one attention before!! Having teams here is so important, not just for the physical work they do but for the impact it has on all the kids. We have felt privileged to join in with this great group!
