Sports Day

The PA High School Team put on a Sports Day for the elementary students this morning. They had it well planned out and brought a lot of supplies from home to make this work, it was a very fun day for all the kids!!

Our three kids also joined in on some of the fun!

Tug of War

Joel's favourite event was the tug of war, his team actually lost, but he really enjoyed playing and getting to know these kids better!!

Palm Sunday

The high school team from Pacific Academy School safely arrived to Kibaale Saturday afternoon. We've enjoyed having them here already, our kids were especially excited for the visitors!!

The team joined in the school's Palm Sunday Parade, singing songs and marching thru to Kibaale town, a great way for them to meet some of the students and learn a few new songs!!

Soccer Game

Last night was one of my favourite nights here so far. We arranged to have a soccer game with the 2 construction crews I have been working with. I brought a few cases of pop and some cookies. This was our way of saying thanks for all the hard work they are doing on the Medical Centre. If I was in Canada, I simply would have gone to Tim Hortons and brought the guys some donuts!

I put our team up 1-0 early in the first half. I calmly slotted a low hard shot into the bottom left corner. The goalie had no chance. We went on to win 3-2 in front of at least 100 fans (I’m not kidding about the fans).

Vocational School

One of the things I have been working on here is the Vocational School. I’m working as the administrator of the department. We have a carpentry class with 9 students, a sewing class with 8 students, and a bakery class to start in a couple of weeks. This past Monday was the first day of classes for sewing and carpentry.

The area of the property that the vocational school is on has not been kept up. The grass is long; there were many garbage pits and an old pit latrine (out house). We hired two young men to work there slashing grass, tearing down the old pit latrine, and just tidying up a lot around that part of the property. Hopefully this will encourage even more of the kids to join the program.
