Joel is settling in to his new life very well. We probably worry about him the most. He’s very sensitive and was having the hardest time leaving his family and friends in Canada. So far though, he is having a great time here!
This weekend he had a breakthrough. There was group of children playing soccer right out in front of our house. They didn’t come and ask him to join so he mustered up the courage to ask them if he could play too! He later told us that this was his favourite night since we got here.
Since arriving here, he has had this fascination with making money. Weird, we know, but maybe it’s because that’s what everyone here is doing. Everyone has something for sale. The first week, we found him trying to sell a pile of broken bricks to a group of children! We have since given him a job at the chicken coop. He goes down there 2 or 3 times a day and collects eggs, which is one of his chores now to receive an allowance from us. He loves having a “job”.
