Cape Town at Christmas

Jeff and I just returned from a week away in Cape Town with our co-worker and great friend, Lizabee. None of us had been before so we had a great time exploring and seeing everything that we could! On one of our first nights there Lizabee treated us to a date night in beautiful Camps Bay!

The tour to Robben Island Museum was an emotional day but we're so glad we had the opportunity to go, especially only a week after Nelson Mandela's passing. This is the cell that he was in for 18 years during his time on Robben Island. That evening we went to see "Long Walk to Freedom" which we'd highly recommend, it answered a lot of questions without having to read the book, although we would also like to read it, eventually!

A view of the V&A Waterfront from our ferry to Robben Island. This is quite a popular spot and we spent a lot of time there, shopping, eating, and just taking in the scenery.

 Table Mountain from the water.

A highlight of our week was definitely taking the cable car up Table Mountain, which has recently become one of the 7 Wonders of the World. The view was amazing from the top, and you can see Table Mountain from many spots in Cape Town too!

At the Atlantic Ocean, although not too far in, it's cold!!

We also went for a gorgeous drive along Chapman's Peak to get to Boulder Beach to see the penguins and then to Cape Point, which is a natural reserve park where we saw ostriches while driving to the very windy beach front.

 Stellenbosch, a beautiful wine route.

 Kirstenbosch Natural Botanical Garden

Hout Bay

At the One and Only Hotel for afternoon tea to celebrate Lizabee's birthday!!

Coming home to these 4 made leaving this beautiful vacation a little easier!
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
