Water

Sometimes the children have to walk to get their water. They are walking more often right now because of generator problems (the generator fills the water tank) and because construction of the third home uses a lot of water. The walk to get water takes about 15 minutes downhill into the jungle where they fill their jugs one by one. Getting home is all uphill with full jugs of water, and takes about 25 minutes. Most of the children carry the water up on their heads, and the older children will often even carry 2 jugs home.
We've walked with them when we can, it is a beautiful walk that our kids really enjoy. Just the walk!! Carrying the water is another story, of our three kids Joel would be the most capable, but despite his greatest effort he can't carry a jug all the way home.
