Nine Months Old

Mazzy is nine months old today!! We’ve only been her parents for 67 days, wow!! It feels like she’s just always been with us.

She’s adjusted so well to her new home and family; it actually doesn’t even feel like there was an adjustment period. A baby is so easy here, lots of extra hands to always help out! Joel, Avin and Finn have loved every minute with their new sister, they only fight about whose turn it is to feed or cuddle her. Now that she’s crawling everywhere they are getting a true taste though of a baby around the house. From time to time they will carry her out of their bedroom, where they’re nicely playing with toys, back into the living room -- half a dozen times!

Mazzy now has 6 teeth and loves to eat all sorts of food. She pulls up on anything, and will walk around the table or holding our hands. She’s even let go and stood on her own for a few seconds already, she really wants to walk, I’m sure to keep up with her big brothers and sister!

Thanks for all your prayers for our family as we’ve adjusted to our new addition. It honestly couldn’t have gone any smoother. What a blessing these four children are, our hearts are so full!!

Home Visits

My (Shannon) Mom had the chance to come to Uganda for three weeks at the end of May, other than seeing us (especially the kids), meeting our sponsor children was a highlight of her visit. We both sponsor preschool children who have just joined Kibaale Community School this year. They were very shy meeting us for the first time, but Joel was able to come with us which helped the kids to feel more comfortable.

We sponsor Betty, she lives with both her parents, a sister, 2 brothers, and her mom is having a new baby any day!! My Mom sponsors Jonathan; he lives with his parents and six siblings!! They were both wonderful families who are working hard in their farms, they grow food mostly for their own consumption, but also earn a little income from the crops as well.

Summer Vacation

Joel has officially finished Grade 2, we've even received his report card! I enjoyed homeschooling a lot, but it was still an adjustment for us all, so we're happy for a little break!!

Joel has spent his summer vacation so far doing chores and learning Luganda!!

He has been helping our house girl, Garina, do the laundry while she teaches him Luganda words, I see him stopping every few minutes to write down the new words he's learned! He actually picks up the lanuage pretty quickly and enjoys trying it out with the neighbour kids.
