Safari

This past weekend we went on a safari with Shaun and Rebekah from Mpigi and Rachel, our new accountant in Kibaale. We have been on a few safaris now, but this was our favourite by far. I really wanted to explore into a new part of the park to find tree lions. There are only 2 places in the world that you can see them, here in Ishasha and also in Tanzania. We were really lucky and found some! It was so cool to see a huge lion sleeping up in a tree!

We also saw A LOT of Elephants. More than we have ever seen before. We lost count but it was well over 100. This was also the first time on safari where I was afraid for a second. At one point we were completely surrounded by elephants and they were not at all happy. We had to keep revving the engine to keep them from charging. Rachel was so scared she curled up into a ball on the floor and started sucking her thumb and rocking back and forth!

These are all tree lions we saw at Ishasha, they move to the trees in the afternoon to sleep.

The elephants are always our favourite, they have such personality, especially this trip!!

I'm having fun with this buffalo skull. Hmmmm... I wonder if a lion had killed this buffalo?
