Christmas is coming

We have completed Term 1 of our school work, Joel and Avin were even able to complete the Math books that they were quite behind in a few weeks ago, yeah!! It feels nice to have that done, although it does not mean time off. Term 2 is short so we're already starting to work on the next term's work and especially the projects, which Joel seems to have a lot of this year!

The tree is up, the stockings are hung, Christmas music is playing, cookies are baking and yesterday we had our first Christmas Party, other than seeing my kids running around in shorts and flip flops outside, it's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas!!!

45!!!

We have 45 spots for new Nursery students in February.

On Monday and Tuesday this week over 300 families came out in hopes that their nursery aged child is one of the 45. It is a benefit for the whole family if your child is chosen to go to our school because of the sponsorship program.

The teacher's who interviewed the students and families this week were looking at how far away the family lives and if the student is even ready for school. Next week they go to our sponsorship office for further interviews and are then weeded down to the 45 neediest students.

Our staff have a lot of work ahead of them with many interviews as well home visits to investigate the family situation for themselves. Please pray for our staff as they begin this very difficult process.

Dinner for 100!

It's the end of the school year in Kibaale! To thank everyone for all their hard work this past year, the Canadian staff decided to make and serve dinner for everyone! The Wiebe family (from Pacific Academy, moving to South Africa!!) are visiting Kibaale for a couple weeks, and we're SO thankful they were here. That was a lot of buns to cut and pasta to make!!

We had bbq hot dogs, pasta salad, donuts and soda. Most people really liked it, and even came for seconds!

The biggest pasta salad, ever!!

The social committee hired a DJ for the event, it was great to see all our staff (and our kids!) dancing in our yard after dinner!

Veggies

Lettuce, lettuce and more lettuce, three kinds of it!! We need to eat it everyday for lunch and dinner to keep up with how much is growing!! Beans, sunflowers, carrots are all coming along well and cucumbers are being planted this weekend. Success!!

Little Helpers

Mazzy and her friends, Ayana and Moses (Wiebe, their family is visiting Kibaale for 2 weeks), are helping out on laundry day! Maybe not a huge help, but they had a lot of fun!!

Baby Immunizations

Last month I had the chance to join our clinic staff on Baby Immunizations. Over a hundred little babies!!!
Three times a month our staff go into a neighboring village to weigh, immunize and give vitamins to the babies, and also vitamins to all the children that come. It's somehow still surprising to me how often you see such young children carrying and caring for babies! I was happy to see that they were being cared for too.
This traveling clinic is a huge blessing to the families in the 3 villages that we rotate going to, since it would take them hours to walk into Kibaale. For me, seeing how much our staff also love this program was my favorite part. They were so happy to be going and so helpful to the overwhelming amount of people, and this is all after a full day’s work!! We love our staff!!
