Mazzy's 2!!

Singing, dancing, drumming, talking - A LOT, playing outside, playing with her little friends Esther, Elsie and Precious at daycare, constantly running to keep up to Joel, Avin and Finn, playing playmobil or with her baby dolls inside, asking for whatever she wants (snacks, Dora, snacks..), tattling on her siblings “Finny hit me!”, an occasional temper tantrum, naps every afternoon, spontaneous kisses, lots and lots of hugs and cuddles, no more highchair, sleeping in a bed & makes herself at home anywhere in Kibaale - even in Secondary School!!
Mazzy is a very fun little girl, she has a vibrant personality and love for life, our family has been so blessed!!

Daycare

At the beginning of Term 3 we started a daycare for our staff in Kibaale. There are over 20 babies and over 10 preschoolers that come and go each day! There is a preschool teacher in charge, and she's doing a great job getting the kids organized for meals, songs and quiet play. The first few days were a bit crazy, not unlike the first few days of cubbies, preschool or nursery at home!!!

Our family tries to help out too, we love to spend one on one time with the kids and to cuddle the little babies, they're so sweet! Our kids love to read books with them or play a game of duck, duck, goose.

We are so thankful for donations of clothes, toys and books that have already come, they have all been such a blessing!! We could still use a few more of those things from home, as well a couple bumbo baby seats, bouncy chairs and play mats would be a huge help! If you have a donation for our daycare in Kibaale, you can bring it to the PAOS office in Pacific Academy School.

THANK YOU!!!

Just another night in Kibaale

The other night one of our teacher's went into labor and needed to be driven to a hospital about 45 minutes away. So we loaded the van with her, her husband, and 7 of her closest friends! No room for Shan who wanted to come as well. 25 minutes after we arrived she gave birth to a beautiful, healthy baby girl, Desire Ntale.

While driving home we were passed dangerously by a speeding taxi cab. In fact we had to come to a complete stop because the dust from his car was so bad. After I started moving again we drove only 25 feet when we saw the car, upside down, lights on, radio blaring, wheels still spinning. Luckily Dr. Liz, from our own clinic in Kibaale, was with us. We both jumped out and ran to the car. Looking inside we could only see one person, the driver, but he was unconscious. Dr. Liz started jumping around screaming "he's dead, he's dead, oh my, he's dead" while jumping around she landed on my toe, with high heels, it hurt a lot. We then decided to roll the car back over so we could help the man. Me, and the 7 closest friends, rolled the car back over and as soon as the car thudded onto its tires, the man awoke. After we quickly pried the door open he jumped out and started running around. He was clearly in shock. Dr Liz then started jumping around again, now saying "he's alive, he's alive!". After all that, the worst injury ended up being my middle toe!

Bushara Island

At the end of July our group in Kibaale went to Lake Bunyonyi, the only lake in Uganda that you can safely swim in. It was the perfect time to reconnect as a family and with our team after a busy couple months.

Cassy, who was on last year's PA Team, had the chance to visit Kibaale again for a couple weeks in July.

It's a beautiful lake, one of our favourite places in Uganda!

When it rains, it pours

Unfortunately, this half hour of rain is the only one we had this week. We're sure the rains must be coming any day now..
